We already know incoming students and their families have lots of questions when making the transition to either Eastland Career Center or Fairfield Career Center and into career-technical education. Now, with the school closures and the on-going pandemic changing life as we know it, we understand there may be even more questions and concerns. Below is a list of frequently asked questions that may address many of these.
Who can help us over the phone or email?
Our Career Services Specialists have worked with students for years during our recruitment and admissions process. They should be your point of contact during this transition. Visit our Who To Contact page to select the correct specialist to contact. CLICK HERE.
Will the school closure order from the Governor impact final acceptance decisions?
No. As of now, we still anticipate making final acceptance decisions and notifying students via mail in June 2020. Since schools are still in session online, your associate high school will continue to process your final grades and we will work in concert with them to process a final review of grades and credits.
Will the school closures impact New Student Celebration and Back-to-School Night?
New Student Celebration scheduled for May 7, 2020, has been moved to an online event. CLICK HERE for details.
Back-to-School Night scheduled in August is still planned, but we will monitor the situation and follow the orders of the Governor. If this event were to be impacted, we would plan for some type of online event.
How is this impacting uniform fitting dates?
Uniform fittings have been moved to a self-fitting, online process. ProForma, our uniform company, has developed a process for this. CLICK HERE to access the uniform store where you can access the online store and Uniform Fitting Guide We also encourage you to order your uniforms for the 2020-2021 school year as soon as possible so that it can arrive before the start of the 2020-2021 school year.
I am concerned about fees & expenses due to this pandemic. What should I do?
We understand these are trying times and there may be concerns with expenses that may come along with becoming a student at EFCTS. The only additional expense associated with attending EFCTS is the cost of your uniform. Our district covers the costs of any lab supplies/tools, etc. so the only expense is uniforms. If you have any concerns, please feel free to contact us to discuss your situation. Contact email@example.com.
What happens if the school closure extends into the fall?
Right now, the Governor has not given any direction on this and so, we will continue to plan for the 2020-21 school year per normal. However, we will also be working over the summer to develop a plan for remote learning during the 2020-21 school year, if necessary, including within our career-technical education programs. While this is a challenging time like we’ve never faced before, we are committing to innovating and remaining flexible to provide all students with a first-class educational experience.
